Relevant Experiance
Site Assessments
Mr. Ghuman has managed, was involved in, and/or reviewed more than 350 projects in waste management and environmental site assessment. In addition, Mr. Ghuman has directed, performed, or reviewed over 500 site assessments.
Most of Mr. Ghuman’s waste management work has been either directly for company counsel or for outside attorney’s representing the owner.
Mr. Ghuman is experienced in litigation support assignments in which he has represented companies as an expert in support of environmental litigation.
He has been deposed several times and has made court appearances where cases have gone to trial. He has also made presentations to regulatory agencies and in public forums in support of project work. The following is a range of environmental project types that represent a part of Mr. Ghuman’s experience:
- Over 15 RI/FS studies both from the EPA side as consultant on REM II, as well as in response to PRP and RP interests. He is knowledgeable about federal, state, and local requirements for the management of chemical industrial wastes.
- Risk assessment studies of industrial manufacturing facilities for EIL insurance purposes and on-site assessment and remediation projects.
- Site assessments for property transfers ranging from single commercial/ industrial facilities to large manufacturing and testing facilities to assignments where the transaction includes multiple properties.
- Initial Site Assessment (ISA) project on roadway improvement projects both for CALTRANS and other public entities. These have included assessments for aerially deposited lead.
Hydrogeology
- Investigations of surface impoundments including hydrogeologic assessments to meet requirements under Title 23, Sub-chapter 15 and AB 3566 (Katz-Tanner Bill) and CERLA. Assignments included studies of contaminant transport in the vadose zone and consideration of tracer techniques for leak detection.
- Assessment and remediation of airport facilities.
Site Investigation/Remediation
- Investigations to detect leakage from underground storage tanks containing fuel/motor oils, organic solvents, and waste fluids. Work has included managing of underground tank programs for nationwide facilities and characterizing and remediating released chemicals.
- Investigations of a variety of manufacturing facilities including work to support the closure of such facilities.
- Investigations of landfills including studies on more than five Class I facilities in California.
- Investigations of school district and university improvement and new building projects.
