Underground Storage Tank Removal
Santa Ana, CA
Project
Information
- Confirm location of UST site utilizing geophysical methods
Eco was tasked by California Army National Guard (CA ARNG) to perform a removal of a 5,000 gallon fiberglass double wall UST and associated air vent within the work bay of the CA ARNG Field Maintenance Shop. The site was constructed in 1960 and, with three work bays too small for servicing modern military equipment, was overdue for modernization. Eco performed the removal of the tank and associated components.
The particular tasks completed included:
- Collection of samples from the tank for analysis
- Proper disposal of concrete in the vicinity of the UST
- Saw cutting and removal of fuel line between UST and fuel island
- Collection and analysis of soil samples from the bottom of excavation, fuel line, and area associated with the fuel island
- Backfilling the resultant excavation pit with clean soil
- Storage of onsite pending waste characterization and disposal
- Installation of a layer of 10 mil geo-fabric in excavation pit before backfilling
- Disposal of all trash generated by work and general cleanup of work area
